On Digital Fatigue, Spring Breaks + What’s Next

I came across the phrase “Digital Fatigue” last week and I thought to myself — YES! THIS IS EXACTLY HOW I AM FEELING! Long story short: I’m not dead, depressed or pregnant — I’ve just been here enjoying myself but not writing about it.

It feels a little weird, actually. But good weird.

Mel makes a great analogy about life that I am going to borrow from in this moment because it’s so accurate: If I was the bad-ass main character in a movie right now this would be the peppy, musical montage where she is just “doing all the work.” You know what I’m saying?

Lately I have been just a little tired out of my computer/iphone/twitter/facebook/pinterest/instagram/tumblr/omg! I’ve updated things here and there, but for the most part I decided to take a little Spring Break of sorts. If you can believe it, this is the longest I have gone without updating this site since 2010!

It blows my mind a little, but I have to be honest: it has felt really good. I think I just needed to press the pause button on the internet. I LOVE the internet, but every once in a while my brain just gets a little bit overwhelmed by all the stimulus! Now don’t get any crazy ideas, I’m not planning on going anywhere, and in fact just yesterday I started feeling that familiar pull of wanting to jot down some thoughts here in this space. I’ve spent the last couple of weeks cooking, writing, reading, working out, creating, and also spending a lot of time just thinking. And for me, when all of those things are in abundance it just feels sort of natural to share.

So I’ll be getting back to this space shortly. (I MISS YOU GUYS! HOW ARE YOU? WHAT’S NEW?) But I think a little digital detox had been long overdue!

Cliffs not of the last few weeks: I am still enjoying my Whole 30 (I’m on Day 17, so it’s pretty much: TIGER BLOOD FOREVER!) I’ve also recommitted to my workout routine with a vengeance, organized some big things in my house and in my life, tried out some new recipes, had some new epiphanies, bought some new beauty products, read some neat things that I want to noodle on and talk about (I just said “neat.” OMG) and generally just recharged my battery. I’m sorry if any of you were worried (and thanks for the kind emails checking in) and I really appreciate the concern.

Let’s get back to our regular programming on Monday, shall we?

(No but seriously: WHAT’S NEW?)

Missed you! This week has kinda sucked so I have nothing new to report. Of course since I never comment I could say something that happened years ago and it would be new to you. How bout this. I ran at least a mile every single day more or less since thanksgiving and was 100% perfect all of feb and march abd was feeling rather self righteous and then skipped yesterday. oh well 🙁

I was hoping that you were just taking some time away from the computer screen, so much so that I now pronounce myself psychic based on your post. Been missing your posts, but I completely understand needing to take a vacay from the electronics.

So glad your back! I am getting ready to take a 15 day vacation with my 4 month old all by myself! Do you realize how much stuff you need to pack for 15 days? Totally nervous to fly with an infant. Like how do you change a diaper in your lap? I am super excited to introduce her to our families though. That’s about all that’s new over here.

I TOTALLY get how you feel. Lately, I’ve stepped back a lot from blogging and the Internet, but I’ve been super busy with stuff in real life. It felt good to get away for a bit, but now I’m trying to find balance again between the two.

Missed reading your blog so much that I decided to do something crazy and started crossfit! It is as cool and consuming as you’ve written, so thanks for the heads up. And more news on your workout recommitment, please.

YAY!!!! Excited you started crossfit! TELL ME ABOUT IT! (You know us CrossFitters love nothing more than obsessing about CrossFit. LOL)

Ha! So I finished fundamentals this week, and was really arm-sore for a few days. But now that the soreness is better, my arms are gigantically swollen! Any experience with this? Maybe better to schedule rest days in between the thrashings? Meanwhile I look like Popeye!
