A Well Kept Shoe Secret (Giveaway Closed)

That moment at the end of the day when you finally get to kick off your heels! For a long time this, right here, was my favorite moment of the day. Standing in the parking garage at my job when I’d kick off my heels and throw on the pair of flip flops in my car for the drive home. I mean, SWEET JESUS, I know you know this feeling. Garrett is always giving me a hard time about wearing uncomfortable shoes, and I always say back, “Baby it hurts to be beautiful.” But you guys, WHAT IF IT DIDN’T? I’m sort of at this crossroads in my style life. I love looking and feeling cute and on-trend and like I am taking care of myself, but I am also 100% OVER walking around in shoes that bring me more excitement when I take them off, you know? Looking for the right non slip shoes that match your favorite outfits? Here’s an amazing site to chose your favorite designs.
When I got an email from BlogHer at the end of a long work day asking if I was interested in a campaign opportunity with Clarks I took a long deep breath. Because the truth was, HELL YES I was interested. Comfortable, quality well-made shoes sounded AWESOME. But then, honestly, I had a moment where I was like, “Wait a minute, am I turning into an old lady? SAY IT ISN’T SO!” So of course, I took to the internet to do some research. I hopped over to Zappos and was actually very surprised by what I saw: Yes, shoes that were well made and crafted with comfort in mind. But also beautiful, stylish shoes for someone who is NOT an old lady. I rejoiced right there in my car! 🙂 photo Clockwise from top: Valley Moon // Purity Snow // Sapphire Stel Immediately I knew I wanted to participate. Because stylish ladies of the world, HEAR THIS: you can totally have both gorgeous AND super comfortable shoes. It can be done! And no one will be the wiser. Clarks sent me a few pairs of shoes to review and honestly they have really worked well into my wardrobe. My feet are ready for fall! If only the weather would catch up! #booties #ootd Wessex Azure I wore the booties they sent me the other day and all day long people kept complimenting me. Each time I felt the need to lean over to whisper “You’ll never guess where they are from…” Every single lady I spoke to was shocked to hear they were from Clarks, but I think the secret is getting out. And the best part? At the end of the day, I didn’t even look for my flip flops!

Clarks are AWESOME! I am not a heel person and even some flats leave me with blisters. But I’ve never been let down by a purchase from Clarks.

  2. Abby says:

Style makes me pick up a shoe, but I won’t buy it if it isn’t comfortable!

  3. Maxmill says:

Standing for 30 years has made me a comfort person.

  4. Stephanie Cowart says:

I always go with comfort and I love Clark’s! They are the best!

  5. Di says:

Bunions, high arches and a bum knee, means comfort comes first. But, I just discovered Clarks too – and hey, lookie there, I can have both!

  6. Holly C says:

You know I once thought style, but definitely comfort. I had these gorgeous pink pumps with a killer heel and they were definitely killer. I wore them one day and am looking for a new owner… Anyone interested? 🙂

  7. Comfort first!!! Life is too short to be uncomfortable 🙂

Also just caught up on your last few posts, so sorry to hear about Buster, glad he is ok!

  8. Erin says:

    Comfort, for sure.

  9. Jennifer M says:

    COMFORT! Always.

  10. K says:

I don’t mind being uncomfortable at work, but wrangling kids in the AM in and out the car or at the end of the day when I’m tired means that I kind of choose a hybrid of comfie/cute/high heel pain. A tall wedge or a stacked heel or at least SOMETHING that keeps me from wanting to whack my legs off at night.

  11. Kinsey says:

I wish the answer were style, because I so want to be stylish and cute. But when my feet hurt I cannot function, so it’s comfort all the way. But those shoes look like they could be comfortable and cute!

  12. Rachael says:

I’m a comfort person all the way. Clarks make me so happy!

  13. Amy B says:

I am all about comfort but with a quirky style, which fits well with Clarks.

  14. JulieVK says:

I absolutely won’t buy a pair of shoes unless they are cute AND comfortable.

  15. dl says:

Sigh, it is comfort for me. I always love the look of stylish shoes but I’m at the point that I know I won’t actually wear them. These clarks look super cute! BTW, love when you do style posts!

  16. Wendy says:

The Clark shoes are adorable – I love the little booties!

  17. Michelle says:

Comfort, always comfort. Which is why most of my shoes are Danskos. I’ve been getting really sick of their clunky non-style lately, so I’ve been trying to find some cuter comfortable shoes.

  18. Lindsay K. says:

So…I don’t really have an answer to this question because I go for BOTH. I only buy a shoe if it’s cute AND I can actually wear it all day walking around my office, walking up and down multiple flights of stairs and maybe a quick trip to the mall at lunch. =)

  19. Pamela says:

Honestly, cute always catches my eye first…but as I get older, I have to pay attention to comfort too. The black/white mary janes in the 2nd photo look like a perfect combination of both…

  20. Melissa R. says:

Cute catches my eye, comfort gets me to buy! Love those booties!!

  21. Jamie says:

Style! As a member of the Big Foot Club it is difficult to find cute, stylish shoes.

  22. Sarah B says:

I love stylish shoes but my feet are wide and flat so comfort and fit wins every time!

  23. Wow! I’m very frequently in the “why did I do this to myself, but they’re just sooooo cute” place so I was excited to see this post. And I’m also so surprised but how modern & stylish these are – I’m definitely going to have to try a pair!

  24. Carol says:

After years of choosing style, I’m now firmly in the comfort zone.

  25. Belle says:

    I’m a comfort person.

  26. Brie says:

    Comfort for sure!

  27. Lisa Brown says:

I buy shoes for style, mostly. They can hurt, but I will suffer through it to look nice.
    jslbrown_03 at yahoo dot com

  28. KellyBrown says:

Gurl, it’s all about the comfort. I’m on my feet 10 hours a day at work and the last thing I want to do is have my tootsies hurt when I’m done. I love Zappos and actually ordered 2 new pairs of shoes from there for work — Earthies! And Clarks. And they are cute and comfy. Im so over heels!

  29. misty says:

    Style for sure!

  31. Erica says:

Since I spend an embarrassing amount of time barefoot, I would say comfort for sure.

  32. MisoB says:

Sadly – comfort. As a mom and dog owner, I spend most of the time not at work chasing 1 or the other. I spent the 1st 20 yrs of my life in cute pumps and the last 20 in flats and crocs…

  33. Deece says:

Cute! As a mother of three with my youngest being 16 months, comfort comes first.

  34. Rachel D. says:

I will always go for comfort first. I have to think it’s cute though or I will never wear them!

  35. Natasha says:

I always choose style but then they have to at least be somewhat comfortable!

  36. Tricia says:

Totally comfort. Like you, I keep flip-flops in the car for when I leave work!!

  37. Kaitlin P. says:

Hopefully both, but comfort is more important to me these days,

  38. savychacha says:

I guess it depends on how long I’m going to be on my feet for! If I’m going out to dinner with the hubby, and I know I won’t be walking around much, then I got for the heels that might not be as comfortable but are smoking hot! However, in my day to day, I try to combine the two. Some days I feel feisty and wear a boot with a higher heel, and then follow it up with a flat the next day. I love my shoes – every single pair!

  39. Laura says:

I’m a teacher, so comfort for me! I own a pair of clunky and ugly but very comfortable clogs, but I’m only 24 so I wish that ugly shoe-dom didn’t have to creep up so fast. I LOVE those Clarks!!

  40. lauren says:

comfort! I work at a stand-up desk all day!

  41. Kelsey says:

Comfort! I <3 my Clark's shoes, I have like 5 or 6 pairs and they are the only heels I will wear! I also love their flats and slip on tennis shoes.

  42. Kerry says:

    Comfort, almost always.

  43. Cat says:

    Comfort usually!

  44. Emily T. says:

I go for comfort, but the shoes still have to look nice!

  45. Mirella says:

Comfort all the way! Love zappos and clarks 🙂

  46. Madeline says:

Usually comfort comes first but I really can’t have one without the other!

  47. Arien says:

Oooh, probably comfort–although sometimes I have to earn it via breaking them in, as with my beloved and super comfortable Doc Marten’s.

  48. Samantha says:

I had the same thought about Clark’s but those ARE cute. I go comfort then looks

  49. Laura B says:

Comfort! I sometimes pretend its style, but who am I kidding? I stand for hours on marble floors! It has to be comfort!
Clark’s are awesome! They look great and feel great too! I wore them for an 18 hour day, luckily they don’t happen often, but my feet didn’t hurt until the end.

  50. missysoupy says:

Oh definitely comfort, but it’s nice when comfort meets style somewhere in the middle, right? I am LOVING those Sapphire Stels — totally sexy with a vintage classic feel (or what I like to call “Foxy Grandma” shoes).

  51. Glenda Mills says:

Comfort for sure first because I have to wear the shoes 8-10 hours but luckily with Clarks they are stylish too!

  52. nicole i says:

comfort with a bit of style thrown in!

  53. Christy says:

I’m not a very stylish person, so I have to say that comfort comes first.

  54. Wehaf says:

Style is nice, but comfort is essential!

  55. linh says:

I look at style first and buy if they’re comfortable.

It used to be a combo of style and comfort but I’m 6 months pregnant and comfort has become way more important!

I love the booties! Style comes first but I will always regret a purchase if they are not comfortable!

  59. Kelly D says:

Comfort comes first for me because if they are not comfortable I will not wear them. I like to do a lot of walking, so style comes in second.

  60. latanya says:

    I look for style

  61. Meg says:

LOVE the cute options! I used to do heels, but the boyfriend is my height and I use that as an excuse to wear flats and be comfortable! Although, I usually buy really beautiful, but terribly uncomfortable (and expensive) flats. So clearly, I need to work on that.

  62. Elena says:

    Comfort comes first

  63. Gwen says:

I occasionally choose style over comfort but always end up regretting it!

  64. Erika W. says:

    Comfort is my priority!

  65. Kelly Braund says:

Comfort comes first! I’m a busy mom, I’m on my feet a lot and it’s a must!

  67. Bonnie Sanders says:

I love Clarks, I have been buying them for years. I could always use a new pair. Thanks for the chance to win. Love your blog!

  68. Stacey C says:

Either/I-ther?! When it comes to shoes, my mantra is, if it fits… hahaha. Life is short, buy the shoes!

  69. Karissa says:

Before I became a mommy, I would have definitely said “style”! But now I would say “comfort”. Style is still important though!

  70. Dee says:

For me, comfort comes first! I need to be able to walk in them. 🙂

  71. Steph says:

I have 2 pairs of Clarks wedges & they are delightful!

I weigh style and comfort evenly. I want it all. 😉

  72. April G says:

Comfort comes first for me! I wish I could say style (and it does play a huge roll), but chasing twin toddlers and a preschooler around all day? It has to be comfortable and good for my feet!

  73. Juliann says:

Working on a large university campus requires me to go with comfort first. But stylish and comfortable is a dream come true. Clarks fit that bill along with a few other brands (Tsubo & Jambu come to mind).

  74. Dani says:

    Comfort always.

  75. Aspen says:

Comfort! Always! I tend to wear the Merrell barefoot flats to work, but I would love to find comfy shoes that are a little more dressy for meetings and presentations.

  76. Shannon T. says:

Comfort first. But I do prefer that they are cute.

  77. atlantagalknows says:

    style!

  78. Margot C says:

Comfort is my first consideration. Still I haven’t found that I can’t have something stylish too as long as the heel isn’t too high.

  79. Kathleen says:

Love the giveaway and love the booties!! Usually I’m searching for a particular look and I narrow the choices down by comfort- you’ll see me feeling the stiffness of all the shoes in a shop to find the ones that won’t tear up the back of my heels!

  80. Erika says:

Comfort is usually #1. Actually, boots usually are. 🙂

    chambanachik(at)gmail(dot)com

  81. nicole says:

    def comfort!!!

  82. Amy S. says:

Comfort! I have always been an old lady.

  83. Juney says:

Count me in with the shoe snobs, but looks like I can have fashion and comfort after all…I’m so thankful that a friend gave me a pair of Clark’s slip ons that she said didn’t work for her. On the first wearing, the small wedge heel felt sort of “gel-like”, so that’s probably why she passed them on to me. On my second wearing, I adjusted the Velcro straps and wore them shopping. After about three hours, I gasped when I realized my feet didn’t hurt -not even a little bit! Now since it is fall, I must begin to wear closed in shoes once again…they will be Clark’s…

  84. Tiffany says:

Comfort is the best! Even if I don’t win the sweepstakes, there will soon be some cute new wedges in my closet. Thanks, Holly for the suggestion!

  85. Definitely comfort. Life is too short to have uncomfortable shoes.

  86. Elena Vo says:

Comfort, of course! I’m not much of a style or fashion- follower and I like my shoes to “get the job done” by being comfortable enough to walk everywhere I want to.

I have to go with comfort! Somewhere around 30, cute but uncomfortable just became impossible 😉

    Comfort for sure!

Style makes me pick up a shoe and try it on but I won’t buy it if it isn’t comfortable.

  91. Jessie C. says:

Both style and comfort are equally important to me when it comes to shoes. I look for style first however I would not get it if it is not comfortable.

  98. Sara Baker says:

    sara(underscore)baker23(at)hotmail(dot)com

  120. melissa Resnick says:

comfort is most important to me

  121. Tamar says:

Comfort! I refer to reviews that say shoes are comfortable or I don’t even buy.

I also have to thank Zappos for allowing me to process an exchange last week on the “comfortable” shoes that actually ripped off the back of both of my feet. Literally. Three times. Got a real pair of comfortable shoes and can’t be happier!

Also, Clarks are amazing and I have the most comfortable shoes from them. They can’t be purchased ever again (as the style is discontinued) so I hope my shoes last forever!

Comfort should come first. No sense torturing yourself for style

Comfort – I suffer from Plantar Fasciatis in both heels – so comfort unfortunately means an elevated heel – so while it might not look comfortable – flats are a no-no for me!

I was just browsing Clarks on Zappos when I saw your note on Twitter–serendipity!

  164. Caitlin says:

    Ohhh ZAPPOS! They’re the best.

For me, it’s comfort over style. I usually look for a specific shoe I have in mind, but make the ultimate choice based on comfort. I have definitely passed up the EXACT shoe I had in mind in favor of one that wasn’t quuuuuite it, but was comfortable and close enough. If it’s not comfortable, I know I won’t wear it. Period.
