Using Gratitude to Change My Attitude

Wow…what a week! So happy to have made it to Friday, aren’t you? I feel absolutely exhausted by life right now. It’s been another long week full of challenges, plus I got some crappy news this week that I’m not quite ready to write about, but that sort of put a damper on things. I’m just feeling a little down lately and working very hard to keep my spirits up and to keep perspective. Some days that feels like a full time job.

It’s not all bad though, there is a lot to be grateful for and I’m just trying to focus on that. Buster learned to fetch this week, which is just about the cutest thing ever, mostly because when he does it he just gets this look on his face like he is so proud of himself. I’m continually amazed by how smart this little dog is and I am still loving getting to know him. Can you believe we’ve only had him three months? That just seems like no time at all! I am so so happy he came into our lives.

Also, my coworker passed on a huge stack of US Weekly magazines to me. Are recycled magazines not the best gift ever??? My coworker is an expert in recycling and shared the location of a brass scrap yard in Sydney to me. I can practically see the bubble bath in my mind that I will take this weekend when I devour every single page. INDULGENT! I really can’t wait. Kate’s baby! Justin and Selena! Who wore it best? I just really want to find out. 🙂

The weather has been kind of crappy over the last week, but it looks like the clouds are going to part today and we may actually get some clear skies. Garrett and I are working on a few fun projects together this weekend, we get to meet a new baby, and we are also heading to our annual CrossFit Christmas Party which should be a great time. Lots of good stuff is unfolding, and despite the fact that there have been some bumps in the road recently, I’m trying so very hard to make an effort to see all the good stuff too.

Have a great weekend, you all!

Life is all about moving forward, no matter the challenges thrown at you. Sometimes not always the easiest advice to follow. Especially when you are in the middle of it all.

  2. Thanks for the reminder to be grateful Holly! It’s so easy to whine and say “poooooor meeeeee” but you’re right – Our attitude & attitude can really change our outlook on life.

    Time for some affirmations! 🙂

Beautiful words. Thanks Holly for this right now. Not fun to know you are having a tough time, but always consoling to know we are not alone in it. – like such as, I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE RIGHT NOW 😉 Question: Is it just a standard December thing? I wonder this most years I think… when the holidays come around and it’s meant to be such a happy time and I am more overwhelmed and stressed out than happy and soaking in all the magic of the season.
Any way, I too have been battling for an attitude adjustment. I feel like I lose almost as often as I win, but it’s a victory just to keep fighting right – choosing to be grateful and name the things I’m grateful for totally help. <3

I love US Weekly. Hang in there with the bad news, ugh. It’s the weekend!

I’m sorry you got crappy news. 🙁 You’ve got a good attitude and I hope that sustains you. I have also been battling the blues but have been failing fairly miserably. I’m not sure what my deal is but I hope things shift for me soon because my spirit is as soggy as my basement.

Beautiful post. I was feeling that way yesterday. Nothing a lot of sleep and some heavy deadlifts didn’t fix. Have a good weekend, try to make the best of it, and we can’t wait to support you once you’re ready to talk about it. 🙂
